It was a very nice day for Oktoberfest in the Amana's. We arrived in the Amana's around 9 Am.
Kathy and I walked the streets of main Amana going in to many of the stores. The crowds were
starting to assemble for the 10 Am parade. As the time came we watched the Oktoberfest parade.
It was about 45 minutes long. It was a real nice parade. As it drew to the end Kathy and I
walked up to Ronnieburgs to watch Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen.
We talked to Terry and Becky for a little bit and soon the band started to play around noon. We sat at a table with Bob & Sue. Soon Vern & Janet S. came and sat with us. The music sounded real great. They did not have a dance area so Kathy and I went down in the street and danced many songs there. Soon we were joined by Bob & Sue. Another couple joined in. We had a lot of people watching the band and us.
As the day went on we walked down to the other parts of the festival. Down at the Mill Stream Brewery they had another tent and a band playing there. We went into a few more shops and went back up to Ronnieburgs for dinner. The meal was great. We had Sauerbraten and Potato Dumplings which is a real good German treat. We had a chance to talk to another couple from the Polka Club's Cedar Valley Chapter. We told them we were from the Central chapter. We had a good conversation with them.
We walked back down to the fest barn and went into the dance. They had a real good show band from Chicago called The Johnny Wagner Band. They played some real good polkas the waltzes where a pretty up beat fast waltz. Kathy & I danced to several songs. We ran into new members Ed and Trish. We had them sit by us and we visited and danced with them the rest of the night. We had a lot of fun dancing and Waltzing to this music. As I talked to several people at the Oktoberfest they said for them this has been the best. The crowd was the biggest they had ever seen at Oktoberfest. I know we all sure enjoyed it. I did not have my camera with me when we went to the barn. I wish I could have taken some pictures in there.
